Independent Inspectorate

cdBAFI (Cosmetic Dermal Botulinum Aesthetics Fillers Inspectorate) was established in 2010 as a result of the lack of professional independent inspections of practitioners and premises in the UK. To ensure that the consumer had choice in the area of non-surgical cosmetic treatments it was essential that a set standard was met as a minimum requirement and that the introduction of NOS (National Occupational Standard) was critical. This would ensure a fair and equal chance of success for all practitioners offering this type of treatment, whether they were Aesthetic Specialists or Medics administering this type of non-surgical cosmetic treatment.

It is time to put an end to the unregulated market place where the Medics (practising non-surgical cosmetic treatments) and the Aesthetic Practitioners alike, work together to ensure the best service to the client and a level playing field of inspection to one NOC along with relevant CoP’s (Codes of Practice) to ensure a better offer to the consumer and one of choice.

cdBAFI will carry out inspections of the practitioner and the premises (from where they operate). cdBAFI are working to seek fit-for-purpose high self-regulation of the aesthetic non-surgical cosmetic treatments industry, to include all those people who are offering this as a non-surgical cosmetic treatment to the general public.

cdBAFI are hoping to eliminate the ‘wandering’ practitioner who goes without inspection and who has no responsibility to the public. The Inspectorate Body will ensure that all inspected practitioners work to a certain standard and criteria and operates from a designated premises. When the public see the ‘cdBAFI’ inspected sign they know that the practitioner has met with the inspection requirements. This will include inspection of the premises in line with the recognised Code of Practice which include business operation, quality, cleanliness and hygiene as well as practical administration of the treatment and overall business practice. We will inspect against the AAIC/cdBAFI National Botulinum Register so that there is an audit trail for all the products used by inspected practitioners.

cdBAFI are committed to quality and they are externally audited by the BSI (British Standards Institute) they are the only Inspectorate Body that are externally audited to scope. When non-surgical treatment specialists are inspected by cdBAFI the consumer can be assured that their practitioner of choice, whether it is a medic or anaesthetic provider, has complied with a criteria and standards of the day. cdBAFI are open to be involved with any standards improvement and will be work with like-minded organisations to establish a high quality, controlled performance, transparent standards and a level playing ground for all qualified and inspected practitioners of non-surgical aesthetic cosmetic treatments.

Champion best practice and professionalism. The AAIC seek high levels of self-regulation in order that the government may recognise one national standard for practitioners working in the area of aesthetic treatments. cdBAFI is an independent Inspectorate Body who is externally audited to scope by the BSI to ISO: 9001 Quality Management Standards and who are responsible for the inspection of the Practitioner and their place of practice.
